The Living Memories Day at FAAM is one of a whole series of events taking place around the UK to mark Veterans Day 2008.  More information can be found at    www.veterans-uk.info

The Aim of the Living Memories Day: 

To promote greater knowledge and understanding of the role of veterans in our history and their contribution to our country and communities.

The programme for the day

·         Access to all the Museum’s exhibitions

·         A presentation of Veterans’ badges to ex-service personnel

·         The opportunity to meet and talk to veterans around the Museum, veterans presentations.

·         Guided tours of the Museum

·         A variety of stands demonstrating the work of organisation involved with veterans, family history and reminiscence and military history

·         Facilitated opportunities for visitors to exchange and discover memories, to learn how to record family memories in various forms and look after photographs and objects.

·         A workshop on how to capture memories electronically using everyday equipment.

·         Guidance will be available for those wishing to understand or interpret a relative’s service career.

·         Access to websites about and for veterans 

·         The event will publicise the oral reminiscence project stories collected by FAAM, involve the veterans already recorded and perhaps, find new sources for recording.
